Dylan Hughes, newly graduated from university, has something deeply personal to tell his parents as he moves back into his childhood bedroom. He had warned them in advance, but nothing could have prepared his high-profile left-wing parents for this, the shock of discovering their son was a Conservative…

Dylan’s mother Emma is torn between sticking to her long-held Labour principles and her very natural maternal desire to see Dylan succeed.  His father, meanwhile, adds to the confusion by being selected as the Labour Party candidate in the local by-election.  Life in the Hughes household could hardly become any more complicated or awkward …  or at least not until Dylan, very publicly, comes out in support of the opposition candidate.

Full of warm-hearted wit and razor-sharp political satire, Family Politics is an insightful antidote to our divided times.
