John Suchet
In Search Of Beethoven
Finishes at: Saturday 26 October 6:30 PM
Best known to many as a journalist and TV presenter, John Suchet is also a lifelong fan of Beethoven as well as an expert on the composer’s life. A very personal quest – part travelogue, part memoir - this is the story of how Beethoven’s music has accompanied Suchet throughout his own life, taking him on a journey that led him from being an adventure-loving teenager to becoming an intrepid journalist entering the arena of a civil war-torn Beirut and beyond.
In search of the man behind his beloved music, Suchet traced Beethoven’s footsteps from Bonn to Vienna discovering along the way the life-changing power of music. This is a journey that is both literal as well as symbolic, bringing both men – musician and writer – most powerfully to life.
For many years the TV anchor for ITN’s News at Ten and a recognised authority on Beethoven, Suchet has also written biographies of Mozart, Strauss, Verdi and Tchaikovsky.
