Join the dig!
Palaeontologist, Professor Danielle Schreve (University of Bristol), is to be guest speaker at our special launch event at Wells Festival of Literature. She will give a fascinating account of the finds from an excavation project at Gully Cave in nearby Ebbor Gorge.
The talk takes place on the evening of 8 July and is by invitation for Friends only, so if you want to join the dig from the comfort of a seat in Cedars Hall, do sign up now.
Since 2006, she and her team have excavated thousands of Ice Age remains at the site including reindeer, brown bear, spotted hyaena and woolly rhinoceros, dating back 70,000 years.
Together, they reveal fascinating insights into the effects of climate change on different species and how they responded to abrupt environmental change, a tale of shifting ranges, adaptation, and extinction.
As well as the special invitation to this event, Friends also have access to priority booking a full week before the Festival begins, and can buy tickets at a £10 per ticket instead of the full price of £12.50. For full details visit our Friends page here.
