Literary Lunch Event

Reading throughout her childhood, Lucy Mangan was the archetypal bookworm. She used her passion to ensure that books would help her navigate the challenges not just of this world, but also of many others. Bookworm’s much anticipated sequel takes us further still, asking a wider spread of questions, including the most important of all: do books prepare us for life? If so, how?

Revisiting books of all genres that ferried her through each important stage of life – falling in love, finding a job, becoming a mother, navigating grief – Lucy has composed an ode to our favourite bookish spaces from the smallest bookstall to the grandest of libraries.

Books not only shelter our souls through hard times and help us find ourselves when we feel lost. They also help us connect with the people we love through shared stories.

Lucy Mangan writes for The Guardian, Stylist magazine, The Telegraph and many other publications.

‘Lucy Mangan has enough comic energy to power the National Grid.’
