Manga Gifts for School
Manga has become a big hit with pupils at St Dunstan’s School in Glastonbury thanks to a donation of 34 Manga comic books by Wells Festival of Literature.
The Japanese blend of art and storytelling in the form of comics and graphic novels has become a global phenomenon, with themes ranging from adventure to fantasy.
“Manga is a great way to get into reading,” said a class teacher, “particularly for any reluctant readers. The books are packed with action, adventure and lots of hand-drawn images, but with enough challenging vocabulary to stretch your reading.”
She added: “We have a huge thank you to extend to the Wells Festival of Literature as our library selection was limited, and now there has been a huge buzz about the new Manga, with lots of excited students.”
