Time to enjoy the shortlists

1 October 202411 March 2025

Our shortlisting panels have had a very busy – but satisfying – few weeks. The final decision now goes to the judges in all four categories. We do know that the standard of writing yet again this year has been consistently high. Our entrants don’t believe in making life easy for the judges!

Of course the generous prizes are well deserved but the real attraction of the Wells Festival of Literature International Competitions is that those who enter can be confident that their submissions are read and approved by well-respected judges – amongst the finest in their fields. Our entrants can always be sure that their efforts receive the recognition they deserve.

Which is why we invite everyone to a celebratory event during the Festival itself: a Poetry Reading and Prize Giving in Cedars Hall where everyone’s achievements are publicly recognised.

This event will take place at 10am on Friday 25 October and is open (and free!) to everyone whether you have entered a competition or not.

Clicking on the buttons below will take you to details of the 2024 Competition shortlists.
