‘We’re going to need a bigger stage’

3 June 2021

The final event of the 2021 Festival will probably see more characters on the Cedars Hall stage than have ever gathered there together before, including a journalist, comedian, MP, radio presenter, university chancellor, actor, entertainer, Oldie of the year, poet, podcaster, bear collector, royal biographer… and more, all rolled into one self-confessed ‘oddball’.

Gyles Brandreth will close the Festival with Odd Boy Out, an autobiographical work that is as much about the world of the time as it is about the man of the moment. Amongst the many tales he shares, he talks about Death Row, sex clubs and Twiggy as well as politics, princes and pullovers.

But don’t worry. It won’t all be packed into just a minute: there will be plenty of time to enjoy it!

The full programme for October will be available in August, with tickets going on sale on Monday 6 September. Priority booking, exclusively for Friends and Sponsors, opens on Tuesday 31 August.
