Author’s life of crime
Former film and TV producer Jayne Chard gave a fascinating account at a special event for Festival Friends of how her career has evolved into her becoming a best-selling author of murder mysteries.
In a talk ranging from tales of making action movies in the Australian outback – where everything in the bush “wants to eat you” – to videos showing the making of daring film stunts, she took her audience on a lively narrative journey.
Her adventures included setting up a still-running veterinary clinic for dogs on a remote island in Thailand.
Now Jayne has turned her talents to writing light-hearted stories featuring a pair of sisters who embark on crime-solving adventures.
Her first novel More than Murder was a finalist in the 2025 Page Turner book awards, and her second book in the series The Body that Floats is out now.
